David Sánchez Badillo (born September 25, 1979 in Ponce, Puerto Rico), better known as Tempo, is a Puerto Rican rap singer.[1]
David Sanchez Badillo, better known as Tempo, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1979. Tempo studied in the Escuela Libre de Música Juan Morell Campos of the municipality. At the age of five years moved to upstate New York with his family for a period of four years.
He returned to Puerto Rico and at the age of 11 began to write his first rap lyrics. He began his career by participating in talent shows.
He joined the group El Escuadron del Panico in 1994, and began recording solo, becoming one of the first artists signed by Buddha Productions in the late 1990s.[1]
Under the label, Buddha's Productions, his albums Game Over (1999) and New Game (2000) became certified gold. He acted as co-producer on the album Buddha's Family, which received a gold record certification.
His album Éxitos (2002) is a compilation released by Sony, comprising mainly old material but also featuring new songs.
In 2002, he was jailed for 24 years for drug trafficking, and has now been reduced to 14 years.[2] Even when locked up has not stopped in his career as a singer. Tempo already launched various topics from there among them are "September 25", "Desde la prisión," which was recorded in collaboration with Daddy Yankee, Tempo intro victory, "Impresióname" by Jowell & Randy, "Porque soy Tempo" among others.
These songs are a new CD called Victory, which launched in early June 2009. In his name the most prominent singers of reggaeton and rap created the Tempo Free campaign, which is dedicated to collecting signatures to reduce or eliminate the sentence was imposed. This campaign was created by his family and more singers who supported such as Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderón, Héctor El Father, Wisin & Yandel and others.
